How often do you buy a beauty product that promises to make you look like a super model and delivers disappointing results? The worst is when it’s freakin’ expensive! There is one thing that I use over and over again and am always amazed by the results. Coconut oil needs to make it’s way out of the kitchen and into your beauty routine. The beauty uses for coconut oil are numerous but here are the top 5 that will totally impress you. I can’t think of anything that gives you more bang for your buck.
Top 5 Beauty Uses for Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is great as a facial or body moisturizer. Put a little in the palm of your hand. Your body temperature will melt it making it easier to apply. It works well around your eyes, face, neck and body. If you are using Retin-A, apply that first, then apply the coconut oil right on top. It gives noticeable results within a week or two!
2. Remove Makeup
You can use it on a daily basis to remove makeup. Coconut oil will even remove waterproof makeup and the type of lipstick that stays on your lips all day. Some people say that it improves their eye lashes. If you are prone to acne, you need to see how it works for you. Some people feel like it helps their acne and others think it makes it worse.
If you use coconut oil on your legs before you shower or apply it during your shower, it gives you a much smoother shave. No need to spend money on shaving cream.
4. Body Scrub
I make a body scrub with coconut oil and coffee grounds. The caffeine in the coffee is supposed to be good for cellulite, but full disclosure, the cellulite is still there. Ugh! It smells great though and really softens my skin. This is how I apply coconut oil before I shave. You can look up tons of scrub recipes and pick one that has the scent that you like.
5. Hair Conditioner
This is last on the list since it’s the most controversial use of coconut oil. People either rave about it or hate it. My advice is to try it on a small section of hair to see if it will work for you. To use, melt the coconut oil in the microwave and let it cool down. While it is still in a liquid state, work it through your hair. The people that love it, say it’s a miracle that made their hair unbelievably soft. Just be careful because the people that don’t like it say that it damaged their hair. I don’t think it works for my hair.
